Black Bean Burger

Ingredients

Yield: 1 Burger

Black Bean Burger Patty

  • 3 tbsp ground flax, mixed with 1/2 cup water, stir well, let rest
  • 1 15 oz can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 1 cup oat flour or whole oats, lightly ground
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 small yellow onion, small dice
  • 1/3 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp cumin

Preparation

Time: 45 Minutes

  1. Preheat oven to 365-degrees
  2. In a large bowl, mash black beans into a paste, leaving a few beans whole for texture. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and flaxseed mixture. Mix well until combined.
  3. Shape mixture into tight patties and place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake patties for 15 mins, flip them and bake for additional 15-20 mins, until firm and browned.
  4. Serve on a bun or with lettuce and tomato. Add condiments as desired. A dollop of guacamole is delicious.
