Black Bean Burger
Ingredients
Yield: 1 Burger
Black Bean Burger Patty
- 3 tbsp ground flax, mixed with 1/2 cup water, stir well, let rest
- 1 15 oz can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup grated carrots
- 1 cup oat flour or whole oats, lightly ground
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 small yellow onion, small dice
- 1/3 cup chopped cilantro
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp cumin
Preparation
Time: 45 Minutes
- Preheat oven to 365-degrees
- In a large bowl, mash black beans into a paste, leaving a few beans whole for texture. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and flaxseed mixture. Mix well until combined.
- Shape mixture into tight patties and place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake patties for 15 mins, flip them and bake for additional 15-20 mins, until firm and browned.
- Serve on a bun or with lettuce and tomato. Add condiments as desired. A dollop of guacamole is delicious.
